Led by the efforts of individual champion Kendall Reed, Newtown High School's girls' golf team won the South-West Conference championship, at Great River Golf Club in Milford, on June 2.

Newtown scored 401 to edge Immaculate of Danbury (404) and defeat its toughest regular-season competition, Masuk of Monroe (437). Reed had an 83; her closest competitors were Stratford's Lauren Ogrodwicz (93) and Immaculate's Julia Cirone (94).

Newtown's Caitlin Briggs had a 102, Maddy Watson a 104, and Nidhi Mukka and Norah Kolb each had 112.

This was Newtown's first conference crown since 2018. The Nighthawks have been either champs or runners-up in each of the last six conference championships; the 2020 season was canceled due to the coronavirus.
