Michael Lucas III, of Shelton, passed away at his home, June 3, with his loving family at his side, at the age of 73. He was born on April 21, 1948, in Danbury, to Michael and Josephine Lucas, of Newtown.

Michael is survived by his partner, Erik Bernard; his sister, Susan Petty, and her husband, Dennis, of Newtown; his nephews, John Petty and his wife, Jenna, of New Milford and Robert Petty and his wife, Stacey, of Newtown; as well as his three great-nephews.

Michael attended Newtown schools and graduated from Henry Abbott Tech in 1965. He Joined the Navy after graduation and was stationed on the USS Beatty, USS Gyatt, and the USS Joseph P. Kennedy. Michael was discharged in 1971. He was employed by Danbury Hospital as a stationary engineer prior to being employed by the State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills. He had many positions with the State prior to his retirement as the director of maintenance in 1990.

Michael was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Milford.

He was a member of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years. He enjoyed volunteering for the soup kitchen in Milford. Michael also loved photography and was a member of area camera clubs.

A service will be held at the First United Church of Christ Congregational, 34 West Main Street, Milford, on Friday, June 11, at 10 am at the Memorial Garden on the church grounds, then a service will follow in the church.
