Edmond Town Hall will launch the Ingersoll Auto Pop-Up Drive-In Theater on Friday, June 5, in the rear parking lot of the building, 45 Main Street.

The drive-in was made possible with the help of Ingersoll Auto of Danbury, a longtime theater sponsor and supporter, and DNR Laboratories, the company responsible for technical support of the Edmond Town Hall Theatre and for recent theater renovations.

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, rated G, a family adventure about three pets who set out on a journey to save their family, will kick off the temporary theater. A line-up of Disney films of various genres, including action, sci-fi, animated, and adventure, will be part of the mix, including Guardians of the Galaxy, Toy Story, Up, and others.

The parking lot will open at 8:30 pm to allow staff to direct traffic, and the movie will start at 9 pm.

Opening night will host 25 vehicles. Beginning Saturday, June 6, the drive-in will serve 42 cars.

Each car will pay $10, and all tickets for both the show and the popular popcorn special — a separate, optional $8 fee — must be purchased online in advance and printed at home. No money will exchange hands.

Only cars that show their printed tickets through the closed car window will be able to enter the parking lot. Anybody leaving their car for any reason must wear a mask. These rules will ensure that Edmond Town Hall staff follows health department guidelines.

Theater staff will deliver popcorn specials to the cars of those who pre-ordered online. The special will include a large bucket of popcorn, two cold bottles of water, and one small bag of chocolate M&Ms. No concessions will be sold on site.

Tickets for the movie and concession may be purchased at Eventbrite.com, on the Edmond Town Hall website, or through the town hall’s Facebook page.

While once gathering at Edmond Town Hall prior to an event was possible, COVID-19 has prevented that. Edmond Town Hall, however, will launch the Ingersoll Auto Pop-Up Drive-In Theater on Friday, June 5, screening movies on the historic Main Street building through a system set up in the rear parking lot. —Bee file photo
