Love And Knishes

At Southbury Jewish Center

SOUTHBURY — The Love and Knishes Senior Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western CT will meet on Tuesday in June. Lunch takes place at noon and lectures and musical entertainment start at 1 pm.

All programs are open to the public, and the suggested donation is $5.50 for seniors and $8 for those under age 60. The luncheons take place at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North in Southbury.

On June 10, excerpts will be played and discussed from The Golden Age of Yiddish Radio Theatre, a compact discs collection published by National Public Radio.

On June 17, Barbara Chase of Connecticut Community Care, Inc. will do a presentation on “Keeping Your Affairs in Order.” Ms Chase is the coordinator of the money management program at CCCI. Her talk will cover much more than finances, including wills, insurance, and who to turn to for help.

The June 24 program will feature the singer-songwriter Willie Nininger of Southbury in concert. Besides playing his original compositions, Mr Nininger will play music of some of the legendary Jewish folksingers of the 60s and 70s, including Paul Simon, Steve Goodman, Allen Sherman, and others.

Reservations are requested a week in advance for these programs. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz at 267-3177 extension 105.
