Newtown 9, Watertown 5 – Briana Berg scored a pair of goals and Rachel Maley had a goal and three assists to lead Newtown to the win. Cathy Urfer, Libby Feltch, Lauren Clark, Moira Collier, Erica Vacaro and Katie McNulty also scored. Colleen Thornberg, Emily Oliver and Hannah Tenenbaum anchored a strong defense as Jen Greenwood made five saves in the cage. Mandy Nostrand, Erin Ruddock and Dana Schunter combined to scoop eight ground balls.

Senior Girls Gold

 

Brookfield 10, Newtown 4 – Stephanie Soder scored two goals with Courtney Gleason and Julie Landin adding a goal each to lead Newtown. Lucy Remitz, Jen O’Connell, and Alycia Johnston added assists with Lisa Isabella stopping 19 shots in goal. Carolyn Gingras, Bethany Weber, and Melissa Fitzsimons combined to pick up 18 ground balls. Rachel Rockwell, Ellen Binio, and Annie Fletcher had great all around games.

Boys Senior A

Newtown 10, Wilton 6 – Newtown scored six goals in the third period to seal their victory. Myles Rich (3), Ned Emerson, Travis Spear, Garrett O’Connor, Zack D’Agostino, Derrick Flynn, Greg Hill and Erik Dreher also scored. Ned Emerson (4), Travis Spear, Bob Attanasio, Greg Hill, Kyle Shevlin and Max Beitel assisted.

Ridgefield 10, Newtown 2 – Kevin Regan and Myles Rich scored in a loss. Tom Hutchinson and Max Beitel provided assists. Midfielders Derrick Flynn, Zack D’Agostino and Zack Varga combined for 14 ground balls. Defensively Scott Regnery, Alex Divico, Brian Stickles and Nick Maurer played well for Newtown. Goal tender Tyler Bigham recorded 11 saves on the day.

Bantams

 

Newtown Blue/Gold 11, Danbury 8 – Kevin Curry and Connor Byrne each had three goals as the Bantams broke out for their first win. Colby Summerlin scored twice and played well in goal. Lewis Thompson one six faceoffs and had two goals and two assists.

Eli 9, Newtown Blue/Gold 4 – Max Naciewicz, Greg Pelillo, Kevin Curry and Connor Byrne scored as Newtown fought hard but came up short. Colby Summerlin and Willie Provey kept Newtown close with excellent goalkeeping.

Trumbull 3, Newtown Blue/Gold 2 – Excellent defense by both teams kept the game close on a rainy day. Matt Varek and Colby Summerlin were virtual brick walls in the goal, and Will Fletcher, Max Naciewiz, and Trey Trudell clamped down on a very physical Trumbull attack. Kevin Curry and Lewis Thompson scored for Newtown.

Watertown 16, Newtown Red/White 6 – Conner Sieban scored twice as Newtown trailed throughout. Nick Fatse and James Radcliffe were scrappy in goal and on attack. Justin Spath showed great hustle at midfield.

 

Boys 5/6 A

New Fairfield 5, Junior Hawks 1 – Andrew Hyland scored the lone goal for Newtown and Jake Woolf made nine saves in goal as the Hawks fell. Tyler Reszoly, Ryan Murphy, and Harrison Gillis combined to grab 14 ground balls. Geraint Davies led the hard sliding defense along with Chris Gregory, C.J. Spath, and Timmy Arnone. Sam Miller, Scott Simon, and Brian Cantore led the attack.

 

Boys 5/6 B

 

Newtown 5, New Fairfield 4 – Brandon Body and Matt Lewin combined to make 13 saves in the cage and lead Newtown to the win. Mack Fuller scored three times while Tyler Davenport and Nicholas Landfair scored once. Claren Cheung, Landfair and Dyland Huebner had assists.
