Turkeys 4, Cheetahs 2 – Goals from Jacqueline George, Mallory Webb, Meredith Letso and Rachele Cox lifted the Turkeys. For the Cheetahs, Emily Lockhart scored a goal and assisted on the other…which was scored by Allison Jagoe. Katherine Donahue had an assist.

Strikers 4, Cheetahs 1 – Jennifer Brill scored a pair of goals for the Strikers. Brianna Barry was strong in defense and Annamarie Unschuld was key offensive player. For the Cheetahs, Emily Lockhart scored on an assist from Allison Jagoe. Marnie Thompson played a superb defensive game.

Boys E

Tigersharks 4, Eagles 0 – Casey Tenney scored three goals (two off penalty kicks) to lead the Tigersharks. Zach LeMien added the other goal off an assist from Alex Newfeld. Tim Willmott had a great shut out performance as goalie. For the Eagles, Kevin Carney and Michael Fridfertig led the offense and Michael Shevlin and James Radcliffe did a great job on defense.

Tigersharks 3, Wolverines 1 – Tory Deakin scored two goals to lead the ‘Sharks to the win. Lewis Thompson netted a pass off Ryan Murphy for the third goal. Christian Gregoire was strong in the goal. For the Wolverines, Jordan Mathurin scored off an assist from Stephen Forgione. Patrick Svitek also played well.

Girls E

Hurricanes 4, Da Bears 3 – Jamie Keating and Samantha Whitley did the scoring for the ‘Canes. Stephanie Ardnt played a great all around game. Jessica McDonald and Celine Currier played an awesome game for Da Bears. Kaitlin Brophy and Nicole Vournazos scored the goals and Lauren Meyer made some great saves in the goal.

Sharpshooters 2, M&Ms 0 – Meaghan Carney and Alexandra Grant scored the goals that lifted the Sharpshooters to the win. Carney also had an assist while Hannah Deflumeri and Matilda Dean played well. For the M&Ms, Jacey Johns and Jenna Bonaccorso played well.

Blizzard 3, Panthers 1 – Stephanie Sanchez scored a pair of goals and Madeline Keane scored one to lead the Blizzard to the win. Margo Isaacs and Riley Cameron provided solid defense. For the Panthers, Susan Mason scored while Abby Lee, Elana Rose Unschuld and Kelly Buckley had solid performances.

Girls F

Shooting Stars 3, Tornadoes 0 – Jen Van Veen, Stefanie Clavette and Brittany Tolla all scored goals to lead the Shooting Stars past the Tornadoes. The Tornadoes had strong performances from Elizabeth Grimes, Allison Samson and Rachel Wiberg.

Dophins 1, Wildcats 1 – Erica Knapp, Rachel Gregoire, and Margo Trawer did well in goal and Bridgette Powers scored to lead the Dolphins. For the Wildcats, Dana Bowers scored a goal, Megan O’Connell and Rebecca Silveira played well, and Carolone Kingsley was solid in goal.

Hotshots 2, Shooting Stars 2 – Kelsey Karp scored twice for the Hotshots while Lauren Frazzetta and Jen Van Veen each scored one goal for the Shooting Stars. Alyse Brautigam played well for the Hotshots and Brooke Leifels played well for the Shooting Stars.

Huskies 1, Dolphins 0 – Justina Paproski scored the lone goal with an assist by Alicia Carrafiello to power the Huskies. Melissa Buccino was aggressive on defense and Caitlin Yakush played a strong game.

Huskies 5, Tornadoes 1 – Jessica Gorski was strong in goal while Meaghan Harkins and Amy Martin scored their first goals of the season to lead the Huskies. Sarah Read played well.

Nighthawks 1, Huskies 0 – Shannon Deveney scored a goal with a great assist by Kaitlin Twombly to lead the ‘Hawks. Jessica Haitz played tough D and Rachel Durno played well. For the Huskies, Lauren Engmark was ferocious at attack all day while Daniella Genovese and Alexis Black played strong offense for the Huskies.

Boys U11

Southington Tournament

 

Raptors 9, Southington 0 – Colin Jacob (3), Kyle Droniak (2), Daniel Greenwood, Nabah Bropleh, Benjamin Miles and Adam Buccino all scored in a Raptor onslaught. Greenwood also had an assist.

Guilford 3, Raptors 2 – Jeff DiNicola and Kyle Droniak each scored for Newtown. Matt Iassogna and Matt Slattery put in great defensive performance in goal.

Boys U12

Southington Tournament

Newtown 5, Newington 1 – Ryan Goodridge, Kurt Nacewicz, Andrew Domingos, Andrew Meisel and Conor McManus all scored to lead Newtown. Mickey Fay, Dayton Horvath and Zach Brazo played strong on the front line.

Newtown 4, Wallingford 1 – Andrew Domingos, Andrew Meisel, Kurt Nacwicz and Connor Collier scored the goals that led Newtown to victory. Chris Marks, John Gouveia, Ethan Carotti and Michael Kearns anchored the defense. A strong game in goal by Jason Kostecki who made some great saves.

Girls U13

Navigators 4, New Milford 1 – Jackie Schulz scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Navigators to the win. Harriet Morgan scored the fourth goal and had an assist. Jackie Kirol had a pair of assists. Eva Cerreta and Alana Bilangi played well in the midfield.

Memorial Day Kickoff

Navigators 2, Ridgefield 2 – Jackie Schulz scored a pair of goals to lead the Navigators. Rachel Maley had an assist while Caroline Kraich and Ashley Braun played well.

Fairfield 3, Navigators 1 – Jackie Kirol scored the lone Newtown goal off a corner kick from Jackie Schulz. Eva Cerreta and Julie Landin played well in the midfield while Rachel Maley and Lauren Hebert powered the attack.

Wilton 1, Navigators 0 – Katie Powers played well in goal and was supported by Jackie Petrasanta and Kenda O’Connor. Alana Bilangi and Jackie Kirol had fine games.

Navigators 0, Westport 0 – Christie Attanasio, Jackie Petrasanta, Kendra O’Connor and Julie Landin played well to power the Navigators. Jackie Schulz and Harriet Morgan powered the attack.

Girls U14

Nitros 2, Stratford 1 (State Cup, 2 OT) – Erica Vacaro, Meghan Miller, Heather Young, midfielders Jen Greenwood and Kelly Bradley, and goalie Caryn Lieberman kept a powerful Stratford offense to a single goal in a thrilling shootout win. Kristine Salbu scored the lone goal for Newtown in regulation and in the shootout, Vacaro put the game away. Allison Bull, Jessica Halloran, Amelia Taylor and Emma Johnson had strong games.

Newtown Kickoff

 

Hamden 2, The Storm 1 – Matt Boland scored the lone Newtown goal off a nice pass from Nick Sando. Chuck Brooks and Michael Parker played well on offense.

The Storm 2, Seymour 1 – Nick Kallivrousis, Eric Macknight and Matt Wright dominated play in the midfield while Neris Halili and Nick Sando combined twice on the two goals.

Southington Tournament

The Storm 2, Derby 1 – Michael Parker and Nick Sando scored the goals that lifted The Storm to the win. Sando had an assist while Chuck Brooks, Neris Halili and Matt Wright played well. Luke Powers was strong in goal.

The Storm 6, Seymour 0 – Nick Sando scored three goals to lead The Storm to an easy win. Matt Boland, Eric Macknight and Luke Powers also scored while Boland, Billy McCann, Nick Kallivrousis and Matt Yakush had assists. Justin Carotti powered the defense.

Girls U16

Newtown 2, NECONN 1 (State Cup, OT) – Newtown advanced to the State Cup semi-finals as Lindsay Weber scored off a corner kick and Emma McHugh, in overtime, knocked in a loose ball off a corner kick by Megan Rawson. Sarah Salbu, Kayla Mesko, Kristina Haliskoe  and Sarah Gutbrod all had excellent games.

Goshen 5, Newtown 3 – Rose Jackman (off a corner kick by Megan Rawson), Lindsay Weber, and Elyssa Samsel (penalty kick) scored the goals to lead Newtown. Rachel Eastman, Kayla Mesko and Kaitlyn Ferguson had good games for Newtown.

Correction

 

The girls U12 team, which captured a title in the recent Memorial Day Kickoff Tournament, was the Hurricanes and not the Rockets as was stated in the headline.
