For residents age 55 and over who wish they had the ability to do some of the home chores and tasks they were once able to do, two local groups are teaming up to make that wish come true.

Friends Of Newtown Seniors (FONS) Chores Services has teamed up with local volunteers from Volunteers Open Worlds (VOW) to make this happen for two lucky winners.

Two homeowners will be chosen to have a team of FONS-VOW volunteers visit their home to take on projects such as painting a room, planting a garden, rearranging furniture, washing windows, sprucing up the yard, fixing up a porch or patio, or a similarly wished-for project.

There is no charge to make a wish, and no other commitment to either group.

FONS was formed in 2017 to provide advocacy and services to Newtown residents age 55 and over, through new initiatives conceived and developed by its board of directors and by partnering with various nonprofit, for-profit, governmental, political, and religious organizations that serve the local senior population.

Founded by Maureen Decker, VOW was established in 2018 with a mission to partner people with passions. The organization builds employee volunteer programs, links business employees with nonprofits, and offers volunteer expertise.

Deadline to make a wish for the FONS-VOW Wishes Come True project is Monday, June 14. Contact Bev Bennett Schaedler with name, address, phone number, and wish request, at 203-430-0633 or fonschoreservices@gmail.com by that evening.

Winners will be contacted by June 16.
