Newtown Bridge Club is holding its seventh annual Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. Over the past six years, the club has raised over $44,000 for this nonprofit organization supporting those afflicted with dementia and their caregivers.

There will be Duplicate Bridge games (Open and 499er) and Newcomer Bridge for players with 0-50 masterpoints, as well as Scrabble (tournaments and casual play) on Tuesday, June 20, at Edmond Town Hall.

The Longest Day will begin at 9:30 am with a light breakfast of pastries, coffee and tea, followed by the morning games at 10 am. A lunch break is scheduled for 1 pm with afternoon games commencing at 2 pm.

Following a 5 pm complimentary dinner with live jazz music, evening games will begin at 6 pm.

Players are invited to play in one, two or all three events. Entry fees are $15 per session for Open and 499er Bridge and Scrabble, and $10 for Newcomer Bridge. Standby bridge partners will be available so players can come with a partner or alone.

Any bridge or Scrabble player who brings in at least $100 in donations to the Alzheimer’s Association will play free all day.

Anyone who cannot join the activities on June 20 is asked to consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association by going to the Newtown club’s website newtownbridge.org to access the online donation link.

Reservations are requested and proof of COVID vaccination is required for all players.
