The theater at Edmond Town Hall will be screening Home June 19-25, and the public will have the opportunity to see enjoy one showing free of charge thanks to Ingersoll Auto of Danbury.

As space allows, all are invited to enjoy the 7 pm show on Saturday, June 20, without fee. Regular admission for movies at the town hall, at 45 Main Street, is $2.

Released in March, Home tells the story of Oh, an alien on the run from his own people who lands on Earth and makes friends with the adventurous Tip, who is on a quest of her own. Directed by Tim Johnson, the film is based on the book The True Meaning of Smekday.

An animated film from DreamWorks Animation, Home features the vocal talents of Jim Parsons (as Oh), Rihanna (as Gratuity “Tip” Tucci), Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez, among others.

It has a running time of 94 minutes, and is rated PG for milk action and some rude humor.

Regular screenings at Edmond Town Hall are scheduled nightly at 7 and 9 pm. Matinees are also planned daily, at 1 and 4 pm.

Ingersoll Auto, owned by Todd Ingersoll of Newtown, introduced the free movie weekends in January 2013. At the time Mr Ingersoll said he was trying to “come up with a creative way that would provide some family time, in our town, that would appeal to everybody.” Initially presented at Free Saturday Movie Nights on the second Saturday of a month, the offerings have often been extended to Saturday-Sunday offering or, more recently, full weekend offerings. The majority of the movies screened during the Ingersoll-sponsored events have been family-friendly offerings.

Last year Mr Ingersoll helped the board of directors celebrate the completed installation of a new digital projector at the historic Main Street building by sponsoring a weekend’s worth of screenings of Gravity and Frozen Sing-A-Long. Among the other films sponsored by the auto dealership have been The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Maleficent, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Into The Woods, Annie, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Guardians of The Galaxy, The Good Lie, Noah, and The Book Thief.

Four screenings of Home will be offered daily at Edmond Town Hall Theatre, June 19-25. The early evening show on Saturday, June 20, is free of charge.
