Drug Arrest

Police report that late on the afternoon of June 25, they stopped motorist Stephen Pellino, 22, of Shelton near 16 Main Street for driving with a faulty brake lamp.

After using their dog to aid their investigation, police charged Pellino with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a faulty brake lamp.

Police released Pellino on $1,000 bail for a July 12 court appearance.

Auto Vandalism

At about 9 am on June 23, someone vandalized a motor vehicle on Carol Ann Drive, police said. Police are investigating the intentional property damage and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Intersection Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road about 5:23 pm June 22, police said.

In the mishap, motorist Michael Sanca, 21, of Hamden, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala sedan, struck the rear end of a 2000 Honda Civic coupe driven by Sabrina Krievins, 27, of 12 Jeremiah Road, police report.

There were no injuries . Police said they gave Sanca a written warning for following too closely.

Moving Violations

Police said that they stopped motorist Jay McDougall, 39, of 3 Jacobs Lane at about 1:19 am on June 23 on Wasserman Way to investigate.

McDougall was then charged with driving under suspension and with traveling too fast, police said. Police released McDougall on a written promise to appear in court on July 7.

Stolen Vehicle

Police said they were conducting radar-based speed checks on Wasserman Way about 5:40 am on June 27 and spotted motorist Gary Melito, 55, of Danbury driving 50 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone.

A records check indicated that the vehicle that Melito was driving was listed as stolen from Bridgeport, police said.

Police charged Melito with third-degree larceny, driving with a suspended license, and traveling too fast.

Police held Melito on $5,000 bail for an arraignment later that day at Danbury Superior Court.

 

Set Of Keys

Police are holding for safekeeping a set of keys that was found about 9:30 am on June 26 on the road near the Dodgingtown Firehouse in Dodgingtown Center. The key set includes a vehicle key for a Volvo. The keys’ owner should contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 3 Main Street (Route 25), telephone 203-426-5841.

Items Stolen

Police report a theft that occurred sometime between 4 pm on June 15, and 11 am on June 20 at property at 275 South Main Street (Route 25) in Botsford.

In that incident, someone stole a gray metal tool box containing a set of Snap-on brand tools, a barrel of cut brass scrap metal, a barrel of cut copper scrap metal, and eight spools of electrical wiring.

Investigating Officer John McCluskey is seeking information on the incident. He may be reached at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Narcotics Charge

Police report they received a call about 5:20 am on June 24 informing them that a man was walking in the roadway on Berkshire Road near Liberty Drive, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they determined that James Hall, 22, of Shelton illegally had some prescription pain killers, so they charged him with possession of narcotics.

Police held Hall on $500 bail for a court appearance later that day.

Warrant

Police report they arrested Gregory Adam Smith, 36, of 80 Riverside Road on a warrant about 4:50 pm June 24, charging him with being a fugitive from justice in New York. Police did not disclose the underlying criminal charge in New York.

Police held Smith on $90,000 bail for a June 27 court appearance.

Poverty Hollow

Sometime between 6 pm on June 20, and 6:15 am on June 21, someone vandalized several curbside residential mailboxes alongside Poverty Hollow Road, causing an estimated $650 in property damage. Officer William Hull is investigating, telephone: 203-426-5841, email: william.hull@newtown-ct.gov.

 

Minivan

Motorist Robert Lingl, 51, of Naugatuck was driving a 1998 Honda Odyssey minivan southward near 82 Toddy Hill Road about 7 am on June 21, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said. Lingl was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Rock On Road

Motorist Sasha Muskus, 32, of Westbrook, who was driving a 2011 Subaru Legacy, struck a rock lying on Berkshire Road near its intersection with Zoar Road about 6:30 am on June 14, after which Muskus reported the incident to police, noting that the impact had damaged a front wheel rim on the vehicle.

Muskus was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Motorcycle Mishap

State police report that motorcyclist Tomasz Mil, 28, of Wethersfield was riding a 2009 Honda CBR-600-RR eastward in the left lane of three lanes on Interstate 84 about 500 feet west of Exit 13 at about 4:35 pm on June 26, when he lost control of the motorcycle and fell off.

Mil was transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, state police said.

Two Charges

Police said they received a report concerning a motor vehicle accident that had occurred on private property at 61 Church Hill Road about 3:26 pm on June 24, so they went there to investigate.

Police said that one of the vehicles had left the accident scene, after which they located the driver of that vehicle, motorist Christopher Paquin, 46, of 5 Nutmeg Lane, at his home and charged him with evading responsibility and with failure to have automotive insurance.

Police said they released Paquin on $200 bail for a July 7 court appearance.

Rear-End Crash

Police said motorist John Arsenault, 61, of 1 Checkerberry Lane, who was driving a 2001 Dodge, was traveling westward on Berkshire Road and then stopped at a red traffic signal at that road’s intersection with Toddy Hill Road at about 12:13 pm on June 22.

Westbound motorist Rebecca Frutos, 17, of 11 Housatonic Drive, who was driving a 2002 Honda, then struck the rear end of the Dodge, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said the gave Frutos a written warning for following too closely.

Honda Vs Honda

A two-vehicle accident occurred on westbound Church Hill Road near Interstate 84 about 2 pm on June 24.

In that accident, motorist Jessica Lippi, 22, of 1 Blue Spruce Drive, who was driving a 2005 Honda Accord sedan, struck the rear end of a 2001 Honda Accord sedan driven by Melissa DeLorenzo-Hensel, 36, of 21 Philo Curtis Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Lippi for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Three Vehicles

Police report a three-vehicle accident on Washington Avenue, near its intersection with Pearl Street, about 12:06 pm June 21.

Motorist Celeste Cheung, 17, of 114 Lakeview Terrace was driving a 2000 Nisan X-Terra SUV northward on Washington Avenue, when the Nissan struck the rear end of a stopped 2000 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Brooke Leifels, 17, of 8 Hedge Meadow Lane, police said.

That impact pushed the Toyota into the rear end of a stopped 2008 Acura MDX SUV driven by Mallorie Dunn, 16, of 2 Old Mill Road, police said.

Cheung received an injury in the accident, police said. Police report they gave Cheung an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police said they issued Dunn an infraction for a driver’s license violation.

Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Haley Lane about 7:10 pm on June 28.

Motorist Ernest Kone, 52, of Bronx, N.Y., who was driving a 2006 Subaru sedan, stopped on Haley Lane at its intersection with Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said. At that time, motorist Shaun Mangold, 17, of 49 Butterfield Road was driving a 1997 Honda CRV carrying one passenger northward on Walnut Tree Hill Road and was approaching its intersection with Haley Lane, police said.

The Subaru then entered the intersection, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they gave Kone a written warning for failure to grant the right of way. Police said they issued Mangold an infraction concerning passenger restrictions on young drivers.

Warrant

Police said that at about 7:30 pm on June 28, they went to the home of Patrick Brady, 52, of 13 Papoose Hill Road to serve an arrest warrant against him in connection with a May 28 incident that occurred at his residence.

Police said that through the court warrant, they charged Brady with interfering with police, misuse of the Emergency 911 system, reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, breach of peace, and criminal attempt to assault a police officer. Police said that the June 28 arrest of Brady occurred without incident.

Police said that the charges against Brady stem from the May 28 incident in which police responded to the residence in connection with a 911 hang-up call there. At that time, Brady became physically combative and attempted to bite a police officer during a struggle, police said. Also, police said they found a large knife in Brady’s vehicle.

Following processing on June 28, police released Brady on $2,500 bail for a July 12 court appearance.
