GOP Seeks Board Candidates

The Newtown Republican Town Committee is seeking candidates to fill positions on the Park & Recreation Commission and the Cyrenius H. Booth Board of Trustees.

Some of the criteria needed for the Parks & Recreation Commission are a knowledge of sports, budgets, ability to work as a team player, decisionmaking ability, and willingness to walk properties when needed.

The trustees of the library board have the responsibility for oversight of the operations of the library. A knowledge of business and budgets is important.

Both boards meet once a month, except at budget time. Attendance at the meetings is a priority.

Anyone who is interested in serving on either board should call RTC Chairman Marie Sturdevant at 426-5957 or contact any candidates committee member — Karen Blawie, Lillian Strickler, William Brimmer, Will Rodgers, Barbara O’Connor, Richard Recht, Paul Mangiafico, or Richard Simon — any member of the RTC. Applications must be received no later than June 30.
