Kim A. Snyder's documentary Newtown has been acquired for theatrical distribution by Abramorama, an independent distribution and marketing company.Newtown focuses on the aftermath of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School by following the families of some of the victims, first responders, teachers, clergy and residents. It was filmed over the course of nearly three years. The film follows the families of some of those killed on 12/14 as well as many within Newtown in the weeks and months after the shootings.Newtown can be seen, and the message can be heard, in all corners of the country."The Los Angeles Times. "Instead, viewers are given wrenching access to a place that more than three years later grapples with an attack that claimed the lives of 26 victims, many of them small children."Newtown received its Connecticut premiere earlier this month, when it was featured at Greenwich International Film Festival June 11-12.

Richard Ambramowitz, president of Abramorama, issued a press release on Monday, June 27, saying in part that he considers "it a great privilege to be part of this process and will work long and hard to insure that

The film debuted this year at Sundance Film Festival, where it was scheduled for six screenings between January 24 and 30.

Sundance Institute said: "The film revisits Newtown, Connecticut, three years after those events changed the town and its inhabitants forever, exploring the various ways that survivors have tried to endure, agitate for change, and further legacies of their lost loved ones."

The film is about people, not politics.

"Legislative questions are not addressed, and even the killer's name is not mentioned," wrote

The film, according to the Associated Press, will eventually be aired on PBS.
