Police Reports Jun 21 - July 1, 2013

DUI Incident

Police report that after they spotted a vehicle crossing over the road’s center lines several times at about 1:08 am on June 27, they stopped motorist Lynn Ambrose, 46, of Fairfield on Sugar Street, near South Main Street.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Ambrose with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to drive to the right on a curve.

Ambrose was released on $100 bail for a July 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Chain Reaction

A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred near 98 South Main Street about 10 am on June 26.

Police said that all vehicles were headed southward when the crash took place.

Motorist Patrick O’Kane, 34, of 5 Daves Lane, who was driving a 1993 Toyota pickup truck, stopped for traffic conditions, after which motorist Paul Smith, 58, of New Milford, who was driving a 2009 Lincoln sedan, stopped behind the Toyota, police said.

Motorist Joann Siecienski, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 2012 Dodge Caravan minivan, then struck the rear end of the Lincoln, pushing the Lincoln into the rear end of the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Siecienski for following too closely.

High Rock Crash

On the afternoon of June 20, motorist Erica Ross, 20, of Sioux City, Iowa, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu sedan westward on High Rock Road, went off the right road shoulder and then struck a tree, after which the auto reentered the roadway, police said.

Both Erica Ross and passenger Kevin Ross, 17, of 5 Walker Hill Road were seatbelted and neither person was injured, police said. Police said they verbally waned Erica Ross for making a restricted turn.

Nissan Vs Mercedes

Motorist Richard Clapp, 60, of Seymour, who was driving a 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-350 sedan on westbound Berkshire Road about 8:50 am on June 26, was waiting for traffic at its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, police said.

Westbound motorist Christina Wodarski, 19, of New Milford, who was driving a 1994 Nissan Sentra sedan, then struck the rear end of the Mercedes, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Wodarski for following too closely.

Hawleyville

Kevin McFarland, 51, of New Milford was driving a commercial 2011 GMC van westward and then stopped behind some stopped traffic near 184 Mt Pleasant Road at about 8:20 am, on June 26, according to police.

Westbound motorist Laura Boots, 28, of Middletown, who was driving a 2012 Ford Focus sedan, then struck the rear end of the GMC, police said.

Boots was transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries. Police said. Boots received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police report.

Church Hill Road

A two-vehicle accident occurred in a congested area near 66 Church Hill Road about 5:22 pm on June 27.

Motorist Kevin Liniger, 16, of 51 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang coupe westward on Church Hill Road, slowed for traffic conditions, after which westbound motorist Patricia Roberto, 71, of 24 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 2004 Buick Regal sedan, struck the rear end of the Ford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Roberto a written warning for following too closely.

Old Green Road

Motorist Adam Shea, 28, of 31 Old Green Road, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Sentra sedan westward near 18 Old Green Road at about 11:44 pm on June 23, approached a curve in the road and then went off the right road shoulder, striking a tree, police said. Police report that Shea told them he had been eating ice cream while driving.

Shea was not injured. Police said they issued Shea an infraction for distracted driving and for making a restricted turn.

Intersection

Police report a two-vehicle accident on South Main Street, near Mile Hill Road, about 5 pm on June 21.

The accident involved motorist Julia Lindner, 20, of Redding, who was driving a 2009 Mazda 5 hatchback, and motorist Melissa Wade, 35, of Fairfield, who was driving a 2004 GMC SUV, police said.

There were no injuries. Lindner received a written warning for following too closely, police said.

Flagpole Accident

Two vehicles collided on northbound Main Street at the flagpole intersection at about 7:45 pm on June 26, police said.

In that incident, motorist Karin Dagostino, 51, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry sedan, struck the rear end of a 2006 Hyundai Tucson SUV driven by John Bello, 43, of 12 Glenmor Drive, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Dagostino a written warning for a cellphone violation.

Carnival Incident

Police report the theft of unspecified items from an unspecified vehicle at the St Rose Church carnival on Church Hill Road on the night of Saturday, June 29.

Police said the suspect in the case is a white man in his mid-20s who has dirty blond, spiky hair. The man, who was wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt and blue jeans, departed the carnival as a passenger in an older white sedan which was driven by another person, police said.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact investigating Officer Matthew Wood at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Jeep Damaged

Police report that a white Jeep Cherokee SUV was parked in the driveway at 38 Underhill Road between 5 pm on June 26 and 10:10 am on June 27, during which time some unknown vehicle struck the Jeep’s passenger-side rear end, damaging it.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the Jeep then left the scene without reporting the accident. That vehicle likely traveled northward on Underhill Road and likely would have damage to its passenger-side front end, police said.

Police ask people with knowledge of the incident to contact investigating Officer Matthew Pirhala at 203-426-5841.

Two Offenses

Police said that they stopped motorist Ralph Fleurimont, 22, of Trumbull on Wasserman Way near Trades Lane about 8:50 pm on June 29 to investigate.

Police charged Fleurimont with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license. He was released on a promise to appear in court on July 16.

DUI Arrest

At about 1:21 am on July 1, police said they stopped motorist Cassandra Papagiannakis, 34, of Shelton for crossing the roadway’s center lines twice while negotiating curves on Berkshire Road, near Bennetts Bridge Road.

Police said they charged Papagiannakis with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right on a curve, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Papagiannakis was released from custody on $100 bail for a July 16 court arraignment, police report.

Rollover Crash

At about 4:51 pm on June 27, motorist William Wendel, 44, of Southbury was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer pickup truck northward near 61 Hawleyville Road, when he lost control of the vehicle and then veered into the southbound lane, after which the vehicle rolled over alongside the road, causing heavy vehicular damage, according to police.

Wendel was transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated for pain, police said. Wendel received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.

DUI Case

Police report they learned about 6 pm on June 30 that an accident had occurred on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11, after which one of the motorists involved in the crash drove away from the scene.

Police said they then located motorist George Chauvin, 26, of Danbury on Paugussett Road, after which they investigated, charging him with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive to the right.

Chauvin was released on $1,000 bail for a July 16 court appearance.

Truck Vs Bus

State police report an accident involving a tractor-trailer truck and a coach bus on eastbound Interstate 84 about 2,000 feet east of Exit 11 at about 9:15 pm on June 26.

There were 18 passengers on the bus, but there were no injuries, state police said.

State police said that trucker Roberta Smith, 48, of Horsham, Penn., who was driving a 2009 Mack, made an unsafe lane change and struck a 2010 MCI Bonanza bus driven by Zoilo Chavez, 50, of Meriden.

Both vehicles received damage. Enforcement information was not available.

DUI

Police said they stopped motorist Robert E. Cain, Jr, 52, of 2 Jet Brook Road about 9:12 pm on July 1 near 23 South Main Street and investigated, charging him with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and failure to drive to the right at a curve/intersection.

Police said they held Cain on $200 bail for a July 2 court arraignment.
