NEW BRITAIN — Beginning July 1, attorney Monte E. Frank will serve as president-elect of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) during the 2015-2016 bar year.

In his role as a principal in Cohen and Wolf's litigation and municipal groups, Mr Frank represents business and municipal clients in the state and federal courts in Connecticut on a wide range of matters. He regularly represents clients in mediation and arbitration in Connecticut and other states.

He has served as an attorney trial referee, factfinder, and arbitrator for the Judicial District of Danbury since 2000.

Mr Frank’s activities in the CBA include vice president (2014-2015), chair of the Legislative Policy and Review Committee, co-chair of the Diversity Committee, and member of the Audit and Pro Bono Committees. He previously served as a member of the Board of Governors and House of Delegates.

In addition, Mr Frank is vice president of the New England Bar Association and is one of Connecticut’s delegates to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. He is a member of the National Council of Bar Presidents and spoke on panels at NCBP’s Boston and Houston meetings.

Mr Frank is also a member of the American Bar Foundation Fellows as well as the Connecticut Bar Foundation Fellows and serves on the latter’s Education and Program Committee. He was previously the president of the Greater Danbury Bar Association and received its pro bono award in 2013.

The Connecticut Bar Association is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is its primary decisionmaking and policy-making body, while the Board of Governors is its administrative board that is responsible for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven officer positions held by members of the association for a one-year term.

The seven positions are president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As president-elect of the CBA, Mr Frank presides over the meetings of the House of Delegates and the Board of Governors in the absence of the president, presides over the Connecticut Council of Bar Presidents, and serves as treasurer of the Connecticut Bar Institute.
