On Tuesday, June 19, the Newtown Bridge Club hosted their second annual Longest Day event as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. Throughout the event, complimentary food was provided by local restaurateurs and stores.

Special thanks to all our sponsors: Bagel Delight, Barnwood Grill, Big Y, Café Xpresso, Capri's Pizzeria, Caraluzzi's, Costco, Diane Rand's Tissue Box Covers, Dunkin' Donuts, Farmhouse Restaurant, Figs, Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, Franco's Pizza & Pasta, Frank Pepe, Karie Peterson Photography, King's, McGuire's Ale House, My Place, Newtown Deli and Catering, Newtown General Store, Nick's Catering, Ninety (99) Nine Restaurant & Pub, Papa Al's Newtown, Red Rooster Pub, Sal e Pepe, Stew Leonard's, Stop & Shop, Tambascio's, and The Villa. The players also enjoyed wonderful music played by pianist Stan Kishner and his SJK Jazz quartet.

The bridge games were enjoyed by 236 players, and through their generosity, we were able to raise over $10,000 (more than double last year's donation) to support the Alzheimer's Association. Their research helps those suffering from this horrible disease, and with further research, hopefully prevention and/or a cure will be found.
