Friendship League Travel Teams Meet In High-Scoring Game

Newtown 1 defeated Newtown 2 by a score of 17-10 in an exciting, fun-filled contest between 8U Beth-Wood Friendship League travel teams in Watertown on June 29.

Newtown 1 collected 27 hits and Newtown 2 had 20 in the high-scoring affair. Newtown 1 got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cameron Bowden doubled to score one run, Maverick Lombardo singled to drive in two runs, and Spencer Tiedemann singled, scoring one run. Griffin Lyddy drove in four runs on four hits in the game.

Newtown 2 scored five runs on seven hits to take a 5-4 lead in the first inning The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Greyson Lowerre that drove in two. Newtown 1 charged back in the top of the third, scoring six runs on eight hits to take a 10-5 lead. Lyddy had a key hit that scored three runs in the rally.

Lyddy and Gio Grates each collected four hits and Ben Pfalzgraf, Lombardo, Bowden, Ben Andersen, Lucius Bydlak, and Kaden Bakula each had multiple hits for Newtown 1.

Beauden Rio led Newtown 2 with four runs batted in on a trio of hits. Rio, Lowerre, and Joseph Guagliano each collected three hits for Newtown 2. Aiden McGuigan, Anthony Carbonella, Dax Kaminsky, and Thomas Serafini each had a pair of hits for Newtown 2. James Aurelia had a great diving catch.
