Members of FUN (Families United in Newtown) gathered at Dickinson Memorial Park recently for the group’s final meeting of the 2014-15 school year.

The event was held as a celebration of the end of the academic year and of the group’s graduating high school senior members.

The event included music provided by DJ Mattchez, Matthew Fitzgerald, food, a bounce house, a cake, water balloons, and activities for the gathered eventgoers. Families with children of special needs were invited and child care was provided by Newtown High School National Honors Society members and student volunteers.

According to FUN Founder and President Linda Jones, throughout the school year National Honors Society Students, with more than 100 participants, attend the FUN meetings during the year. A committee of students meets monthly for FUN activities.

Graduating FUN committee members included Madelyn Aug, Jeff DePinto, Lauren Engels, Brooke Hadgraft, Cara Mihaven, Lindsay O’Donnell, Anna Pinckney, Stephen Price,Zachary Weiland, Katelyn Zimmerman, Alex Dittrich, Caitlin Filiato, Jessica Nguyen, Micaela Nowacki, Michael Poulter, Robby Schreiber, Tonya Tucker, and Student Leader Megan Weber.

NHS juniors who are also FUN committee members include Lauren Beier, Rachel Crosby, Anika Dholakia, Samantha Dion, Julia Faxon, Laura Hornby, Kayla Kordish, and Sophie Kennen.
