To the Editor:

On behalf of the Newtown Lions Club, I would like to recognize the generosity of our 2021 “Proud Supporters” (Newtown businesses and business owners) and their important contributions to our fundraising, specifically in 2021, the Lions Club Playground Project.

Many of you will have seen earlier articles in The Newtown Bee about our “Stay at Home Treasure Hunts” and other ways for individuals to contribute to the goal of creating inclusive play opportunities at Dickinson Park for children with physical restrictions, their families, and friends.

However, it is important to mention that without the significant donations of $6,300 from our Proud Supporters, we would not have made the progress we have in the past few months.

Specifically, we want to mention our Platinum Supporters, Eversource Energy with their community development grant and Newtown Savings Bank; our Gold Supporters, Impact Business Technology and Miltan Management Corp; and our Silver Supporter, Caraluzzi’s Foodmarkets.

We are delighted that to date, the total raised for the Playground Project stands at almost $43,000. So, a big thank-you to all the 2021 Proud Supporters and the many, many individuals who have also contributed.

There is still a ways to go if we are to break ground at Dickinson Park this year, so please consider making a donation by mail to the Newtown Lions Club at PO Box 218, Newtown CT 06470 or electronically via our web page, newtownlions.com, where you can see the equipment we are looking to purchase and help us “Swing into Action”!
