Tercentennial Summer Events

Through August 31 — “Passport to Newtown’s Past” archival photography exhibit, presentation of 36 remastered prints from The Newtown Historical Images Archive, in Olga Knoepke Memorial Meeting Room at C.H. Booth Library, on view until August 31.

August 5 — The Bearcats in concert, at Fairfield Hills soccer field, off Wasserman Way, begins 7 pm rain or shine, free jazz concert sponsored by Tercentennial Commission; 426-4533.

August 6 — All-Day Birthday Celebration at Fairfield Hills campus with family picnic, live music, games, antique car show, vintage base ball, and fireworks; also bocce tournament at The Pleasance.

September 4 — Al’s Trail Celebratory Open House, bridge at Rocky Glen State Park at Dayton Street, 10 am-1 pm.

September 5 — Newtown’s Tercentennial Labor Day Parade, begins 10 am, with Parade Marshal Mary Hawley (as portrayed by Beth Cluff).
