Newtown Parks & Recreation on Wednesday afternoon announced several program updates, including cancellations, for Thursday, August 6. The announcements come as the town, its residents and businesses continue to recover from Tropical Storm Isaias.

Due to a lack of electricity, as well as downed power lines, Day Camps at Treadwell and Dickinson parks will be canceled again.

Eichler's Cove Beach and Marina will both be closed on Thursday, due to downed trees and power lines.

Parks & Recreation Director Amy Mangold is asking residents to not enter any of the town properties on foot.

“Power lines are dangerous,” she said.

Treadwell Pool is closed, as well. Consequently there is no Torpedoes Swim Team practice again on Thursday.

Thursday night’s summer concert at Dickinson Park has been canceled. Organizers are “hoping to reschedule if possible,” according to Wednesday afternoon’s announcement.

All Town playing fields, including turf fields, are closed until further notice.
