William G. âBillâ Congleton, 84, of Frankfort, Ind., died August 5 at Wesley Manor. He was born July 17, 1924, in Frankfort to Mark and Lula (Gray) Congleton.
Mr Congleton is survived by a daughter, Lynn Williams and her husband, Larry, of Newtown; a son, Mike and his wife, Lana, of Frankfort; three sisters, Mary Ann Carter of Sacramento, Calif., Nancy Kinsler and her husband, Don, of Frankfort, and Jane Quick of Lebanon, Ind.; five grandchildren, Tory Daines, Kristin Daines, Tim Congleton, Aaron Congleton, and Adam Congleton; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ermal L. (Laughner) Congleton.
Mr Congleton was a 1942 graduate of Jackson Township High School and took agriculture short courses at Purdue University. He was a farmer and a lifelong Clinton County resident. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Paul Harris Foundation, and a former member of Rotary.
 Mr Congleton helped organize the Indiana Pork Producers Association and the National Pork Producers Council in the 1950s. He served on the board of the Indiana Pork Producers from 1960 to 1979 and as president in 1974 and 1975, on the board of the National Livestock and Meat Board from 1975 to 1988, and on the executive board from 1980 to 1988. He was president of the Pork Industry Group in 1974 and 1975. His awards include Prairie Farmer Master Farmer of Excellence for Community Service 1978, Commercial Producer of the Year by the National Swine Improvement Federation in 1979, Meritorious Service Award by Indiana Pork Producers in 1982, and The Pork Industry Award by the National Hog Farmer Magazine in 1985. In 1979 he was given membership in The Honor Society of Agriculture by Gamma Sigma Delta at Purdue University.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Friday, August 8, at the First Christian Church, Frankfort, Ind. Family will receive friends following the service at the church. Pam Ditson-McCall will officiate. Private family burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
