Two More To Quit Positions In Land Use Office
Conservation official Chris Majewski and town land-use clerk Kathy Reymers
this week submitted notices that they are quitting their posts.
Mr Majewski started work last May. He replaced David Thompson, who resigned as
conservation official last March.
After Rita Macmillan left town employment as the Planning and Zoning
Commission's (P&Z) administrative aide last March, the town hired Ms Reymers.
Land-use secretary Janet Burns then was promoted to the P&Z administrative
aide post, and Ms Reymers assumed Ms Burns' former post of land-use clerk.
Neither Mr Thompson nor Mrs Macmillan explained the reasons for their
departures.
Town Engineer Ronald Bolmer, who is the land-use department head, complimented
Mr Majewski on his abilities, terming him "very, very thorough, very, very
good."
Mr Majewski helped the Conservation Commission quite a bit, Mr Bolmer said.
"I was personally pleased with both their performances," Mr Bolmer said. "She
[Kathy] was excellent," Mr Bolmer said.
"It's a shame. I wish things worked out," Mr Bolmer said.
Ms Reymers said she has just accepted a post with General Electric, hoping it
will open up new opportunities for her.
Mr Majewski, who came to Newtown after leaving a position at the state
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), said he had intended to stay
longer.
"It hasn't worked out that way," he said.
Are the simultaneous resignations just a coincidence, or is there more to the
story?
"I would think it reflects something," said Mr Majewski, who declined to
comment further. He said he plans to do some traveling and then pursue new
employment opportunities.
Ms Reymers' last day of work is February 13. Mr Majewski departs February 20.
