Hearing On Condo Design Changes Postponed
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) has postponed a public hearing on a
request from Walnut Tree Developers, Inc, concerning architectural changes the
builders want to make to future units of the Walnut Tree Village condominium
complex in Sandy Hook.
The P&Z had been scheduled to hear the developers' proposal for an amendment
to their existing special exception to the zoning regulations on March 6.
The developers want to make some roofline, gable design, and related
architectural changes when they build the second phase of the 80-unit
condominium complex on Walnut Tree Hill Road. The proposed changes are being
requested to improve the appearance of the complex and solve some practical
problems.
But the developers had not formally informed abutting property owners of the
March 6 public hearing.
The developers will have to notify adjoining land owners before a public
hearing is held on the requested architectural changes, according to P&Z
Chairman John DeFilippe.
Walnut Tree Developers has a special exception to the town's zoning
regulations to allow a multi-family housing complex for the elderly in an
EH-10 zone. Any amendment to that special exception to the regulations is
subject to a public hearing.
