HART PROPOSES DANBURY-WATERBURY BUS SERVICE

DANBURY -- Housatonic Area Regional Transit has just completed a

Waterbury/Danbury Express Bus Service Proposal, to implement express bus

service in the Waterbury/Danbury corridor, it was announced by Thomas

Williams, executive director for the transit agency.

The proposal was produced in response to the 1990 Connecticut Statewide

Transit Plan, which recommended future implementation of express bus service

to the Waterbury/Danbury corridor.

HART further investigated the potential of providing service to this corridor

last year with the release of the Waterbury/Danbury Express Bus Feasibility

Study. "Demographic data now suggests there is sufficient potential to warrant

a demonstration of express bus service in this corridor," adds Williams.

Outlining an operating plan and cost estimates, the Waterbury/Danbury Express

Bus Service Proposal establishes the framework to initiate express bus

service. In May 1995, HART submitted the proposal to the Connecticut

Department of Transportation for review and consideration.

For additional information or a copy of the Waterbury Danbury Express Bus

Service Proposal call HART at (203) 744-4070.
