Town Hall Managers Hire Two Part-Timers
The Board of Managers has approved the hiring of two part-time employees to
help run Edmond Town Hall.
In July, the board voted to eliminate two of its full-time positions as a
$54,000 cost-saving measure. The new positions, lead custodian and
secretary/clerk, are both 24-hour-a-week jobs.
The names of the two new hirees were not available at press time.
Theater manager Tom Mahoney has taken on added duties at town hall since the
departure of office manager Edie Tschorn and building manager Mike Zilinick.
At its meeting Wednesday night, the Board of Managers agreed to pay Commercial
Roofing & Contracting, Inc of Putnam an additional $20,000 to re-roof four
sections of the flat roof on the back of the town hall building. According to
board member Marie Sturdevant, the roofing company, the low bidder, claimed it
had made an error in its original bid of $122,400, falling $25,000 short.
"It was an honest mistake. Our hesitancy was that we don't have the money,"
Mrs Sturdevant said. "We still feel they're the best people to do the job."
