Attic Sale To Benefit Historic Preservation
SOUTHBURY â Southbury Historical Society will hold its second annual attic sale to raise funds to benefit the preservation and maintenance of the historic 19th century Ludorf Barn.
The sale will be 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, at the Old Town Hall Museum, located on Route 172 in the South Britain section of Southbury. The historical society is accepting donated items for the sale.
Baked goods and refreshments will be available for purchase.
The historical society acquired the 1820 Ludorf Barn on nearly two acres of scenic pastureland from the Ludorf Family of Southbury in 2009. Seeing it as a significant local landmark, society board members have been working diligently to restore the structure and open it to the public as a farm heritage museum.
Once fully restored, the barn and its surrounding agricultural landscape will be used for exhibitions, lectures, living history demonstrations and other community events and programs highlighting the areaâs rich agricultural heritage.
Anyone interested in helping the historical society with its work can donate items to the attic sale or can send a donation by check to Southbury Historical Society, PO Box 124, Southbury CT 06488.
Attic sale items should be clean and in good condition. The Historical Society cannot accept computer or computer related items, TVs, exercise equipment, child car seats, clothing and items that are large and difficult to handle or dispose of. Smaller furniture items are suitable, but please check first as there is limited storage space.
Items being donated can be dropped off at the Old Town Hall Museum during its regular hours, Wednesday from 10 am until noon and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm.
