Dolan, Jr.

Member Of Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company

George E. Dolan, Jr, 86, of the Hawleyville section of Newtown, died September 1, in Masonicare at Newtown. He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., August 14, 1924, a son of Mary (Slattery) and George E. Dolan. Mr Dolan was the husband of the late Virginia (Gassert) Dolan.

Mr Dolan was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and New York University. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the European Theater and the D-Day Invasion.

He was employed by Dun & Bradstreet as a credit investigator for 27 years.

He was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Parish and was a member of the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company.

A daughter, Mary E. Griffin, and her husband, Jeff, of Southbury survive Mr Dolan. He also leaves behind special friends and family, Helen and Russ Smith and family, Donald and Vincent Slattery, Karen and Ronald Griffin and family, and Aloise “Lucy” Mulvihill and family.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the employees of Masonicare at Newtown for their care and kindness shown to Mr Dolan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Saturday, September 4, at 9 am. Interment with military honors will follow in St Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, September 3, from 4 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 344, Newtown CT 06470, will be appreciated.
