Reading Every Day

To the Editor:

Congratulations to all who participated in the C.H. Booth Library’s summer reading program, Make a Splash, Read! The success of this program is due to the dedication and contribution of the young adult volunteers who donated hundreds of hours listening to reading reports, the local businesses that donated prizes and incentives to our readers, and to the parents who brought their children to the library, encouraging them to read every day.

A special thanks to the businesses who donated hundreds of coupons so that all of the more than 600 readers were rewarded: My Place, Dunkin’ Donuts, Sports Center in Shelton, Golf Quest in Brookfield and the Westerners Baseball Team. We all know reading is its own reward, but these incentives go a long way to keep children motivated throughout the summer, establishing what we hope will be a life-long love affair with books and reading.
