CT AIDS Bike Tour Sept. 10–14

DANBURY –– The second annual Connecticut AIDS Bike Tour will take place September 10–14, a 350-mile ride that begins in Hartford and loops through western Newtown on September 11 on the way from Danbury to Bridgeport.

Single day riders still are needed.

The route begins in Hartford and goes through Litchfield, Danbury, western Newtown, Bridgeport, New Haven, New London, Norwich, and Willimantic, ending back in Hartford on the final day.

Approximately 25 to 30 riders will ride out from Immaculate High School in Danbury on September 11 at about 7 am. They will stop in Putnam Memorial State Park between 7:30 and 8:15, then continue on Route 58 to Route 302 into Newtown. The riders will bear right onto Flat Swamp Road to the end, then right onto Poverty Hollow Road on their way out of Newtown and on to Bridgeport, where they will have lunch at Bridgeport’s Wonderland of Ice at 1, then continue on to New Haven.

The ride commemorates the memory of those who have died from AIDS and those who are working to change the future. There are an estimated 20,000 people living with HIV in the state of Connecticut.

For more information, to volunteer as a rider, or to become a CABT sponsor with a tax-deductible contribution, call 800-551-AIDS or visit the website at www.ctaidshousing.org/cabt.htm
