The annual Labor Day Parade â themed Newtownâs Faith in the Future: A Celebration of Our Youth â featured visits from the Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard (top), the Newtown Bridle Lands Association (pictured, center), and individuals with mounts in hand (below). Nearly 100 organizations marched on an overcast, drizzly day, under the direction of Grand Marshals Debbie Richardson (director of Newtown Youth Services) and Roseanne Loring (Youth Servicesâ Life Skills Education Coordinator).

If they get that passed they are in hog heaven,they have plenty of fat in the original proposal.The voters will now be shamed into passing the revised budget. I say we vote it down again and see how creative they can get with the numbers.We all know plenty of fat is laced in the proposals.

I, too, love that flagpole. I approach it in the southbound lane, as Mr Gardner described, and it’s an inspiring way to start my day. In addition to all it stands for, it tells me something, whether it’s furling in the wind, or hanging quietly when weather is still, sometimes boldly majestic, sometimes sad or unsure. A gem like no other. I know it generates angst with traffic; approached with the appropriate level of caution, it should not be such a problem. Can’t really blame the flagpole, it doesn’t move. I hope it’s there long after I’m gone, and inspires others as well. Thank you Mr Gardner and all the other current, previous, and even future Keepers of the Flagpole.

$500,000 surplus? Funny how money just shows up when you squeeze. And where did this surplus come from? Our tax dollars, right? I say vote NO again and let's see how much more money they can find.
