Hospital Offers Pastoral Programs

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport Hospital’s Pastoral Care Department will offer a clinical pastoral education program from October to May.

The nationally accredited program is designed for community clergy and religious lay people who wish to provide pastoral care in a hospital setting, and combines discussion sessions with clinical work in the hospital. For information, call the Rev Jay Cooke at 203-384-3211.

Bridgeport Hospital’s Pastoral Care program serves people of all religious traditions, and provides counsel to people in life-threatening and end-of-life situations. It ensures that a chaplain is available for patients, families, and employees 24 hours a day. Chaplains are supported by area clergy. The Rev Nancy McCormack is the hospital’s pastoral care coordinator.
