Occupation: I’m a stay-at-home mom. I was in marketing communications for technology firms in Greenwich and Wilton before I had kids.

Family: My husband, Joe; Noah, who is 3 years old; and Nicholas, who is 11 months old.

Pets: We have two cats, Maya and Georgia. They were my husband’s cats that he rescued before we were married. Maya is 12 years old and Georgia is 10 years old.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been here almost three and a half years, moving from Norwalk.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read and I like to cook and travel. My husband and I are into wine. We have a wine cellar in the basement, so we like to try different wines and read about them. I also do the communications for the Newtown Neighbors and Newcomers Club.

What is your favorite wine right now? We like to drink rosés in the summer. Pax Rosé is one of our favorites.

Do you have a favorite author? One of my favorite authors is Elizabeth Arthur. My favorite book of hers is Looking For The Klondike Stone, a memoir from when she was a little girl and went to sleep away camp. I was an English major, so I like the classics, too, like Jane Austin, when I have the time to re-read them.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Probably my favorite is Chile, where my husband and I went on our honeymoon. I liked the fact that is was so diverse. We spent time in Santiago, then went to the beach, then down to Patagonia for hike, and to the lake district and the wine country. There was so much to do.

What is the best thing about Newtown? That there’s so much to do for families. We belong to the Neighbors and Newcomers Club. They do a lot for kids. And the Newtown Youth and Family Services offers so many programs. Then there’s the Labor Day Parade, and all of the various runs, like the Rooster Run, in town. There’s always something to do.

If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? Probably the future. There are a lot of problems in the world — with food and energy shortages. But I try to be optimistic that we will solve them, so I’d like to see what we come up with.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I try to look on the bright side of things. I try to be optimistic.

What is the most important lesson you have learned? It’s simple, but if I’m about to respond to an angry e-mail and send one back, I always wait 15 to 20 minutes before hitting that ‘send’ button. I’ve found if I step away, I can diffuse the situation in a calm manner. In a broader picture, if people are upset, it helps if you can try to see their perspective and why they are acting that way.
