Sales of Newtownopoly

Continued On Labor Day

To the Editor:

Thank you to all the kids and parents that participated the Newtown Orchestra group that walked in the Labor Day Parade on Monday. We had such a good time and sold 45 more Newtownopoly games! We have less than 50 to go!

Even though we could not play music in the parade (most of the kids play violin), we were there promoting the wonderful music string program that we have in Newtown. Thank you to Richard Serbagi, conductor, and Mardi Smith, Reed School music teacher, for also marching in the parade — you were great! Thank you Tony, owner of Andrea’s Bakery, and his staff! Once again, you so graciously supported our group and provided wonderful treats to the people that purchased a game. Yummy! Thank you David Merrill for making the games more special with your personally signed autograph and messages. As always, you are a joy to have with the orchestra group. And last, but not least, thank you to all of the people of Newtown that have purchased our town’s own game — supporting the musical education of our youth. We are grateful — and you helped us raise over $15,000. The stories that we heard from those of you that stopped by Andrea’s Bakery were priceless — like — “We just moved to town and this is our first Labor Day Parade here! We love it” and “We have been in town for 28 years and are moving away. The game will be a nice thing to have to remind us of Newtown.” That is what it is all about. A little bit a nostalgia. A keepsake. Thank you to all.

(PS — If you are interested in purchasing one the few remaining games, please call 203-512-6284.)
