BEACON, N.Y. â Open Space Gallery is presenting âInside Out,â an exhibition of Michael De Feoâs new self portrait paintings on paper, on view through Sunday, November 4. A reception with artist discussion will take place Saturday, October 13, 3 to 9 pm, discussion at 5.
Using the same techniques as his works on the streets, De Feo continues his self portrait series of acrylic and latex on paper. Many of the pieces in the series have been wheat pasted to the streets of New York and Miami, left to decay and whither away. The uninstalled street works will be presented along with smaller new self portrait drawings and paintings on paper.
De Feo began working on the portrait series in May 2006. That summer he began wheat pasting the finished works in New Yorkâs Meat Packing District, Chelsea and SoHo. Last December he continued the project in Miami.
Best known for his ubiquitous flower image. De Feo has been creating street art in cities around the world for more than 15 years.
De Feo lives in New York City and has shown his work internationally.
