Occupation: I am a senior teller at Washington Mutual on South Main Street, where I have been for 10 months. Prior to this, I was a stay-at-home mom.

Family: My husband, Doug, and I have been married for 18 years. We have three sons, Kyle, who is 16 and a junior at Newtown High School; Curtis is 14 and a freshman in high school; and Kevin is 10 years old and just started fifth grade at Reed Intermediate.

Pets: We have a rabbit that is 8 years old. His name is Peter and he was a gift from Santa to Curtis when he was in kindergarten. We have two cats; Pepper is 5 years old and Puffy is 10 months old.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been here for 15 years. We had Kyle’s first birthday party at our new house.

What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time watching the kids’ sports games and practices. We like to go out on our boat that we dock at Eichler’s Cove, too. And I like to garden and do yard work.

Do you have a favorite movie? I love the Indiana Jones movies, and I’m so glad a new one is coming out with Harrison Ford. For actors, I like George Clooney, too.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We go to New Hampshire every year to the White Mountains. We go to the Indian Head Lodge Resort. It’s a family place with a pool, a lake, hiking, and lots of other activities. And I go by myself once a year to Ocala, Fla., to visit my father and stepmother. It’s good to get away and relax.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The sports that they offer the kids. My son, Curtis, was part of the Newtown Blaze baseball team when they won the districts, regionals, and states for four years in a row. And at the 10-year-old and 12-year-old levels, they went to the Cal Ripkin World Series. That will always be a great family memory. My family and I have gone to the Labor Day Parade every year, too, and look forward to it.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be? People not being in such a big hurry. Everybody is in such a rush. You need to give people a break now and then.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Life is too short. Live every day to your fullest and be kind to others. The reason I live by this is because I am a 6½-year breast cancer survivor. You never know what you will be told and how something like cancer can change the way you think about your life, and how it can affect the life of your family.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I like my desserts. I like a good chocolate mousse cake.
