John Anthony Furanna, Jr

John Anthony Furanna, Jr, 97, of Milford, died September 5, in Connecticut Hospice. The beloved husband of the late Lucille M. McKie Furanna, he was born April 18, 1915, in Naugatuck, to Margaret (Mangini) and John A. Furanna, Sr.

 His devoted children and spouses Laurie and Rich Badick of Sandy Hook, Richard “Dick” and Peggy Furanna of Milford, Deborah and Kenneth Patenaude of Milford, and Donna Downes of Berkley, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren survive Mr Furanna. He was predeceased by his first wife Florence Rogg; and sister Eleanor Furanna.

Mr Furanna was a World War II Army veteran. He worked as a metallurgist for Bridgeport Brass, and retired in 1978.

He was a member of Ansantawae Lodge #89 of Milford, Wepawaug Rifle Club, and a deacon of First United Church of Christ Milford. He was formerly active with the Milford Boy Scouts.

Calling hours were scheduled for Friday, September 7, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street in Milford, with Masonic Service at 5:30 pm. A funeral home prayer service will take place Saturday, September 8, at 9:30 am. Interment will be private.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emma Davis Medical Equipment Ministry, 34 West Main Street, Milford CT 06460, or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford CT 06405.
