Newtown parents and girls are invited to join Girl Scouts of America/Newtown Service Unit Managers Cat Fedorchek and Heather Smith for a Recruitment/Joining Night, where they can learn what fun activities and exciting events Girl Scouts provides for girls in Newtown.

The event will be held at Castle Hill Farm, 25 Sugar Lane, on Wednesday, September 16. It will begin at 6:30 pm.

Whether families are new to Girl Scouts, interested in continuing (but a girl’s former troop is not), or was a Girl Scout in the past and wants to return, the recruitment night will provide guidance and answers. There are opportunities for girls to become involved in Girl Scouting from the time they begin kindergarten until their senior year of high school.

According to Ms Fedorchek and Ms Smith, Girl Scouting provides safe programs and places in which to grow, outdoor opportunities, leadership skills, opportunities for community service, and girl and adult mentors and role models.

In addition, Girl Scouts can experience new places and activities, learn life skills, develop their potential, make new friends, gain self-confidence, and improve the world around them.

Adult leadership is also needed on the local level. All volunteers receive training and support.

For further information about Recruitment Night, contact Ms Fedorchek and Ms Smith at newtownsum@gmail.com. For more information about Girl Scouting in general, visit gsofct.org.
