Frances Elizabeth Denninger

Frances Elizabeth (Morgan) Denninger, 67, formerly of Newtown, passed away September 7, in Danbury. She was born in Valley Stream, N.Y., in 1953 and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She went on to graduate from St John’s University in Queens, N.Y.

Frances married Charles R. Denninger in 1976. They settled in Newtown and raised their three children, where Frances enjoyed volunteering with the school system and Scout troops. She was an active member of St Rose of Lima parish in Newtown, including singing in the choir, and a former member and officer of Quota International of Candlewood Valley. Fran’s talents included embroidery, sewing, singing, and guitar playing. She was an avid reader, unofficial Jeopardy champion, and super-fan for all her children’s sports and activities. Frances was a loving wife, supportive mother, and kind friend. She will be missed by many.

Frances is survived by her three children, Charles Denninger (Jennifer) of Danbury, Kristin Semeniuk (Stefan) of Arlington, Va., and Thomas Denninger (Susan) of Greer, S.C.; her four grandchildren, Wyatt, Piper, Owen, and Charles; five siblings; numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews; and many wonderful friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Francis Codd, Joan Morgan, and Thomas Morgan; as well as her beloved husband, Charles.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 9, and Friday morning from 9 to 10 am, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 10, at 10:30 am, in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will follow at St Rose Cemetery.

The family would like to express our appreciation for the care she received at Saint John Paul II Center in Danbury, where Fran was a resident the last six years.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes.org, in lieu of flowers.
