Net Rippers Boot Their Way To Championship
The Newtown Net Rippers earned the U11 championship in the Fall Annual Soccer Tournament in Fairfield during Labor Day Weekend.
Newtown earned a 1-1 tie with Easton behind a goal by Josh Harper. Then the Net Rippers tore up the field and were led by midfielders Evan Eggleston, the unstoppable Harper brothers, Josh and Nick, and striker extraordinaire Brendan OâHara. Newtown defeated Bethel 2-0, blanked Milford 4-0, and outscored Fairfield 5-3 en route to the title.
Rookies James Barden, Grant Larson, and Aiden Ford were forces to be reckoned with, providing exceptional play and key attacks throughout the day. Mark Hall was impenetrable in goal and, while playing in the field, scored several assists and two goals of his own. At the end of the day, Mighty Matt Gerbo Brendan OâHara, Josh Harper, Nick Harper, Aiden Ford, and Evan Eggleston also found the back of the net. None of this was possible without the wall of defense led by the great Hunter Procaccini, Silas Decker, and Ryan Brello.
