To the Editor,

Hello, my name is Lisa Kessler and I am running for Legislative Council in District 1.

I have lived in Newtown for approximately 15 years and have two kids. Born and raised in Wilton, I am a life-long Connecticut resident and have been working at a local transportation company for the past several years. I’ve enjoyed being a regular volunteer at my kids’ school over the years which has been a joy and a great learning experience. Newtown is a special place full of charm, character and a great place to raise a family.

As a mom, I have a vested interest in keeping Newtown family friendly and affordable for all ages. First and foremost, I will listen to residents and strive to make common sense decisions based on facts that will benefit the community. I believe it is important to be fiscally responsible, maintain a balanced budget, lower taxes and attract businesses to town. Going down the same path as surrounding towns may not always be the answer and a larger budget does not necessarily ensure a better outcome for the residents.

Newtown is a wonderful place to live and I would be honored to have your vote and serve on the Legislative Council. Along with my running mates, William DeRosa and Angela Curi, we will work diligently to ensure the best outcome for Newtown.
