To The Editor:

On behalf of the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the 64th Annual Newtown Labor Day Parade such an incredible success.

This year’s theme, “Picture Perfect Parade,” could not have been more fitting. From the participants who spent countless hours preparing their floats and performances, to our first responders, community organizations, volunteers, and everyone who marched — each of you brought something special to the day.

A parade of this size simply would not be possible without the tremendous support of our sponsors. We are especially grateful to our Title Sponsor, Newtown Savings Bank; our Platinum Sponsors, Rob Rozz Plumbing, Teamsters Local Union 1150, Maplewood Senior Living, and Ingersoll Auto; and our Gold Sponsors, Newtown MediSpa, Ives Bank, Rotary Club of Newtown, and Service Stars.

Just as importantly, we want to recognize every one of our sponsors, donors, and community partners. Whether you made a financial contribution, donated goods or services, provided equipment, fed our volunteers, helped with logistics, or simply asked, “What do you need?” — you played a part in making this parade happen. We encourage our community to remember and support these businesses and organizations throughout the year. They continually show up for Newtown.

To our volunteers — thank you. Many of you were out there long before the first participant stepped onto Main Street and remained long after the crowds went home. Your willingness to give your time is what allows this tradition to continue.

To our Grand Marshal, Bill Glass, thank you for allowing us to celebrate you and the countless moments of Newtown history you have captured through your lens over the years. It was truly an honor to have you lead our Picture Perfect Parade.

And finally, to everyone who lined the parade route — thank you for showing up. Thank you for cheering, waving, clapping, and staying to support the participants from the very first group to the very last. Seeing thousands of neighbors, families, and friends lining the streets is a wonderful reminder of what makes Newtown such a special community.

The Newtown Labor Day Parade is much more than one day. It represents months of planning, hundreds of volunteers and participants, generous community support, and a tradition that brings generations of Newtown together.

We are incredibly proud of what our community accomplished this year.
