Sandy Hook Students Honored For Summer Challenge
Almost 100 of the 750 students at Sandy Hook School participated in this yearâs Summer Challenge program where students in grades first through fifth spent time over the summer doing activities in language arts, math, and science.
The summer program allows students to continue working on their school skills with prepared activities in the three subject matters. The activities done at home lead the students back to school for a new year. The students work up to the ultimate goal of participating in the summer Olympics, which is a field day event for the students who completed all the activities on the road back to school. Goals were set for students to have their names on the Wall of Fame at school and an ice cream surprise.
On Wednesday, September 19, students participated in the field day activities for their summer challenge accomplishments. They blew bubbles, had sack races, enjoyed a balloon toss, showed their soccer skills, and used teamwork to get each member of their group through a hula-hoop as they held hands.Â
