A Newtown High School student is hoping Newtown dog owners will share photos of their pet for dog-themed wall calendars, the proceeds from which will benefit Newtown Animal Control.

“While working at the Newtown Dog Park the last two summers, I spent my lunch breaks at the shelter getting to know these precious animals and the dedicated staff who look after them,” said NHS senior Kyle Tabor. “This project is my chance to support their mission.”

To help, residents can send a digital photo of their dog to kyletabor2023@gmail.com along with a $10 donation to “The Newtown Animal Control,” which can either be mailed or dropped off directly at 21 Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT, 06470 c/o KT Capstone Project, or make a purchase from their Amazon Wish list at amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2F9UFPTYDY4XK?ref_=wl_share.

Alternatively, arrangements can be made for individual donation pick ups.

To participate, submit photos, along with the pet’s name and the owner’s contact information, no later than October 31. Make sure any poses include animals only (other pets are more than welcome, but no humans please) and are natural and comfortable for the dog(s).

Multiple pictures and those representing a variety of seasons are highly encouraged. Additionally, by submitting photos, the submitter agrees to waive any and all copyright privileges.

Pictures will be chosen and assembled into a calendar to be sold and delivered in time for the holidays. Calendar ordering details will be provided as an email follow-up and posted to the Animal Control Facebook Page (facebook.com/NewtownA nimalControlShelter/?ref=page_internal) by early November.

Final pricing will depend on total orders, but estimate is $20-25 per calendar (to cover printing expenses and a $10 shelter donation). Anyone who donates as part of this initial photo collection phase will be invited to purchase the calendar for the cost of printing only (whether or not your image was included).

According to Newtown Animal Control Officer, Carolee Mason, donations will be used to provide training, recreation, and treats to shelter pets.
