Ford Vs Honda

Police said motorist Mitchell Roberts, 17, of 20 Fieldstone Drive was driving a 2010 Ford Focus sedan northward on South Main Street, near Peck’s Lane, behind northbound motorist Patrick Christopher, 49, of Newburgh, N.Y., who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan, at about 4:52 pm on September 24.

The Honda slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by the Ford, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Roberts for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Berkshire Accident

Motorist Laurie Rohe, 22, of Shelton was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon sedan northward on Berkshire Road, near Toddy Hill Road, at about 3:36 pm on September 25 and then came to a stop for traffic conditions, after which the Dodge was struck from behind by northbound motorist Sarah Kling, 71, of Minneapolis, Minn., who was driving a Ford Fusion sedan, police said.

Ambulance volunteers evaluated Rohe, police said. Police report they verbally warned Kling for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Two Charges

Police report that at about 6:40 am on September 20, they responded to the area near 56 Great Hill Road after receiving a call informing them that a motor vehicle with deployed airbags was positioned on the side of the road.

Police said they determined that motorist Ian Pharo, 40, of Bethel had been driving the unspecified vehicle westward on Great Hill Road and then veered off the right road shoulder while a negotiating a curve and struck a rock.

Pharo was not injured. Police said they charged Pharo with making a restricted turn and with driving with a suspended license. Pharo is scheduled to answer the charges in court.

Obtuse Road

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Obtuse Road, near the Brookfield town line, about 7:24 pm on September 27, according to police.

In that incident, motorist Ashley Green, 27, of Brookfield was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta sedan near 9 Obtuse Road and then stopped after a deer entered the road, police said.

Northbound motorist Jeremy Petro, 39, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee SUV, then drove into the rear end of the Volkswagen, police said.

There were no injuries. Petro received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said. Green received a misdemeanor summons for driving with suspended license. Green was released on $100 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 10, police said.

Ramp Mishap

Motorist David Cronin, 75, of Ridgefield, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius southward on Hawleyville Road, slowed to make a left turn onto the Exit 9 on-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84 at about 12:10 pm on September 28, police said.

At that time, motorist Andrew Verno, 26, of Woodbury was driving a 2008 Chevrolet G-2500 van northward on Hawleyville Road, police said.

The Toyota turned across the path of the Chevrolet and the two vehicles collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Cronin received a written warning for making a restricted turn, police said.

Hawleyville Accident

State police report a two-vehicle accident at the end of the Exit 9 off-ramp at eastbound Interstate 84 in Hawleyville on September 24.

State police said motorist Allison Abresky, 19, of New Haven, who was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima, struck the rear end of a 2007 Subaru Outback driven by Meghan Gioffe, 37, of 27 Main Street.

There were no injuries. Abresky received an infraction for unsafe movement, state police said.

Three Vehicles

A three-vehicle collision occurred on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 8:44 am on September 23.

Motorist Leroy Bagley, 43, of Orlando, Fla., who was driving a 2003 Ford, slowed for traffic conditions, as did motorist Rui Santos, 42, of 54 Taunton Hill Road, who was driving a 2008 Infiniti G-35, said state police.

Trucker Kevin Lefelar, 44, of Broad Brook, who was driving a 2000 Kenworth W-90 truck, then struck the rear end of the Infiniti, pushing the Infiniti into the rear end of the Ford, state police said.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Highway Collision

A two-vehicle accident occurred about 2:34 pm on September 23 on westbound Interstate 84 at the Exit 10 on-ramp.

State police said that trucker Walter Koskey, 48, of Kiamesha Lake, N.Y., was driving a 1987 Freightliner truck westward in the right lane of two lanes in slow, heavy traffic, as motorist Nikolaus Braun, 47, of 24 Taunton Lake Road, who was driving a 2001 Saab 9-5, was attempting to merge from the on-ramp onto the highway.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Braun received a written warning for making an improper turn, state police said.

Vehicle Vandalism

Police are seeking the public’s assistance following a reported incident of vandalism to vehicles at Mathison Floors, LLC at 133 South Main Street. According to reports, during the overnight hours on September 26, two company vehicles were broken into and assorted flooring tools were taken. Police say one vehicle was in front of the establishment and visible from Route 25, while the other was parked in back and visible from Peck’s Lane. Anyone with information or who may have noticed suspicious activity is asked to call 203-426-5841 and refer to case number 2013-14620.

Sugar Street Crash

At about 8:30 am on September 27 local police responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Sugar Street and Key Rock Road. Upon investigating police say that Christina Weaver, 23 of Watertown was operating a 1994 Nissan Sentra eastbound on Sugar Street when she attempted turning left onto Key Rock Road in front of an approaching a 2010 Ford Flex being operated by Danielle Marion, 41, of Brookwood Drive. As a result, the Ford struck the Nissan on its passenger side. No injuries were reported but both vehicles were towed from the scene. Weaver received an infraction for making an improper turn.
