Every October for nearly a decade, The Newtown Bee has hosted a candidates forum at Edmond Town Hall. But the local newspaper is departing from that traditional activity this year in favor of one that promises to be much more sociable.

This election season will find The Bee hosting a much more informal gathering of invited candidates from the local Republican and Democratic slates in a setting a bit more conducive to talking politics face-to-face: Reverie Brewing Company.

The Newtown Bee’s 2019 Candidates Meet & Greet at Reverie is set for Monday, October 7, from 6 to 8 pm, at the craft brewery and pub, 57B Church Hill Road, adjacent to the railroad trestle.

With each incumbent and political newcomer invited — and most of each party’s slate promising to attend — the newspaper and its staff are hoping residents will turn out to enjoy some light munchies and partake in the latest offerings from the Reverie crew.

Reservations are not required, and there is no charge to stop in to meet the candidates.

Each candidate will be introduced and will have plenty of time to meet and talk with residents one on one about why they hope to serve the community as an elected official.

The Newtown Bee is encouraging folks to come hungry and thirsty — and gratefully acknowledges the following restaurants that have offered pizzas and other fare: Newtown Pizza Palace, My Place, Papa Al's, Carminuccio's, Franco’s Pizza & Pasta, and Red Rooster Pub.

Attendees can take advantage of any beverages Reverie has to offer, at market price, including their fresh-brewed Pumpkin Porter.

Anyone wishing to indicate their plans to attend can do so on the Events tab of The Newtown Bee’s Facebook site, but drop-ins are encouraged — and why not bring a friend or neighbor along?
