AAA Holds Driving Workshops For Teen Driving Safety Month

DANBURY — October is Teen Driving Safety Month. To mark the occasion, AAA Southern New England–CT is sponsoring several free parent/teen driving information workshops to help parents and teens navigate the journey of pursuing a graduated driver’s license (GDL) at various locations throughout Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties.

“Dare to Prepare” is a 90-minute workshop aimed at 15- and 16-year olds and their parents. It covers Connecticut’s GDL requirements and what teens and parents must do to obtain a driver’s permit and later a driver’s license. Locally the workshop is slated for October 16 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Danbury Public Library, 170 Main Street.

It reviews distracted driving laws, focuses on the dangers of cellphone use, texting, and drinking while driving and provides interactive exercises to drive home certain safety points.

*Other free programs will take place at the following locations from 6 to 7:30 pm:

*October 10, Bridgeport Public Library Teen Café, 925 Broad Street, Bridgeport;

*October 10, AAA Hamden, 35 Worth Avenue, Hamden;

*October 17, Greenwich Police Department, 11 Bruce Place, Greenwich; and

*October 23, Fairfield Police Department, 100 Reef Road, Fairfield.
