A longstanding sugar maple in the patio of C.H. Booth Library has provided shade and beauty for years.

The tree is sick, however, so it will be removed later this season for safety reasons.

Before the tree comes down, the library is hosting a Butterfly Tree Tribute Craft Project.

Residents are invited to visit the library, at 25 Main Street, October 1-8, to pick up a Butterfly Tree Tribute Craft Kit. Each kit will contain two butterflies, one to keep and one to return to the library after being decorated.

Decorated butterflies are to be returned to the library by October 22, after which they will be hung from the tree for one final beautiful display.

The library is currently open Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday, 9:30 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Reservations are not needed. Call 203-426-4533 for additional information.

Ahead of the removal of a sugar maple within the patio of C.H. Booth Library, readers are invited this week to pick up a craft kit to celebrate all that the tree has provided.
