To the Editor:

I have known Don Ramsey since 2010 when my twins began at Newtown Middle School. Mr Ramsey was the teacher who every student wanted to have. He was the cool teacher; the one that made going to class “fun.” When students entered his classroom, they were in awe because he always had something new and exciting to show them.

Mr Ramsey always had a way of making each student feel special and important. He presented something new to learn every day, and incorporated many other subjects, including math, science, and history, to teach technical education. He inspired his students to want to learn through his own enthusiasm for science and how the world works.

If anyone should be a member of the Board of Education, Don Ramsey is “number one.” He brings with him more than 35 years of experience as an educator and the understanding of what makes a young person want to learn. He knows what makes them excited about education and how to motivate them. For him, being an educator is not a job but a calling.

The Board of Education is more than knowing about the financials of a school system, but what our students need. We could elect no finer person to be a part of this board than Don Ramsey. I hope that you will join me in voting for him on November 2.
