Girls’ Swimming And Diving Team Defeats Bethel-Immaculate

Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team defeated the Bethel-Immaculate of Danbury co-op 97-84 in a meet at NHS on October 4.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Ella Seaver, Zoe Petertonjes, Grace Fischer, and Alexa Kwarcinski was first in a time of 1:56.92.

Diellza Limani was second in the 200 freestyle race, finishing in 2:06.37. Kwarcinski came in second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.63.

Newtown went one-two in the 50 with Petertonjes placing first in 26.12 and Seaver runner-up in 27.63.

Ella Hall was first in the diving competition with a score of 186.60; Kayleigh Troy came in second with a score of 159.05, edging out teammate and third-place diver Katie Yeaton who scored 157.50.

Fischer came in second in the 100 butterfly race, clocking in at 1:07.61. Limani was tops in the 100 free with a time of 57.28. Bethel-Immaculate had the top two placers in the 500; Newtown’s Anna Shew came in third, making her final touch in 5:58.43.

In the 200 free relay, Seaver, Limani, Maddy Watson, and Petertonjes came in first in 1:48.19.

Kwarcinski came in second in the 100 backstroke event in 1:04.29. Fischer was second in the 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:13.04.

Newtown clinched the team win heading into the 400 free relay. Petertonjes, Limani, Shew, and Kwarcinski combined for the fastest time in 3:51.12.
