To the Editor:

As a 50-year resident of Newtown, commissioner on various town initiatives for ten years, and chair of the Commission on Aging (COA) for five years, I have spent a lot of time with the Board of Finance (BOF). I truly believe that it is a very important component of the Newtown government, and Ned Simpson is an excellent candidate in representing our financial interests as taxpayers.

Ned and his wife, Katherine, are relative newcomers to Newtown, but within a few years have gotten very involved in the well-being of our community.

Both Ned and Katherine are currently volunteering on numerous important initiatives across Newtown, and Ned is now running for reelection to the BOF. He brings new insights, business and management experience, and a past multi-state residence financial perspective. Ned currently has been chairing the Newtown Livable Community Initiative, is a part of the Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS), and closely follows the COA, Economic Development Commission, Board of Education, Legislative Council, and Board of Selectmen activities. Over the course of the three years that I have known him, I found that he focuses on both the near-term details, researching information, and looks out at the long term picture.

We need to continue Ned on the BOF, so vote Ned Simpson!
